An extremely exciting event, FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships, kicked off in Kazakhstan with a torch relay and a splendid opening ceremony, and takes place from 2nd till 5th August.
The prestigious event brings together world’s top players among both women and men – World Champions Ju Wenjun and Ding Liren and highest rated players Magnus Carlsen and Hou Yifan are present!
We’re particularly happy to shine a light on remarkable female players that are competing in Astana. Except Ju Wenjun and Hou Yifan, other biggest names are – Alexandra Kosteniuk, Humpy Koneru, Anna Muzychuk, Harika Dronavalli, Kateryna Lagno, Bella Khotenashvili, Bibisara Assaubayeva and Nurgyul Salimova.
Each team in the event is required to include at least one female and one amateur player representative, which means the event not only gathers very strong players, but also gives an opportunity for passionate players and supporters of the game to participate. At the same time it makes it so much more exciting!
