As part of FIDE’s Year of Chess and Education, the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess is proud to launch the Women in Chess Education Spotlight Initiative – a global campaign celebrating the women who are shaping lives through chess education.
Across the world, thousands of women dedicate their time to teaching chess, mentoring young players, organizing educational programmes, and creating opportunities for children and communities. Through this initiative, we want to recognize their contributions, share their stories, and inspire more women and girls to become involved in chess education.
We invite federations, chess organizations, schools, clubs, communities, and individual educators to take part by submitting a short video showcasing women who are making an impact through chess. Videos may be submitted either by an organization or federation on behalf of a participant, or by the educators themselves.
Video Guidelines
Please submit a video between 1 and 3 minutes in length.
The video should include at least three of the following:
- A brief introduction (name, country, and role).
- Information about your chess education programme or activities.
- Footage of you teaching, coaching, or engaging with students (where appropriate and with the necessary permissions).
- A description of the impact chess has had on the children, students, or community you serve.
- A short message encouraging more women and girls to become involved in chess education.
Recording Tips
To help us showcase your work in the best possible way, we recommend:
- Recording in portrait (vertical) format whenever possible.
- Using good lighting, clear audio, and a steady camera.
- Speaking clearly and minimizing background noise.
- Including short clips or photographs from your activities to make the video more engaging.
- Recording in your native language if preferred; English subtitles are encouraged where possible.
- Ensuring that any children appearing in the video have the necessary parental or organizational consent.
Submission Information
Along with your video, please include:
- Full name
- Federation/Country
- Title or role (Coach, Teacher, Trainer, Organizer, etc.)
- A short biography (100–150 words)
- Social media handles (if applicable)
Please upload your video to Google Drive or another file-sharing platform and send the download link, together with the requested information, to: anna.kantane@gmail.com
If you are unable to edit or produce a video, you are welcome to send us your footage and materials – we will use the materials provided after editing on our own. Videos will be published on the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess social media channels.
