Women’s Day Chess Simul in Saint-Tropez

Organized by Club d’Échecs de Saint-Tropez “Les Fous de la Vieille Tour” in cooperation with the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess, this special simultaneous exhibition will take place on March 8, 2025, in celebration of International Women’s Rights Day under the theme:

“For ALL women and girls: rights, equality, and empowerment.”

Event Details

On March 8, for International Women’s Day, a unique simultaneous chess match will feature four talented quadruplet sisters competing against players from the local Saint-Tropez chess club and clubs from the Côte d’Azur region. The exhibition will take place in the enchanting garden of the Annonciade Museum, offering a stunning backdrop for this remarkable event.

A Celebration of Chess, Equality, and Community

This exceptional event aims to promote equality, solidarity, and creativity in a sporting and friendly spirit. Open to the public free of charge, it provides a unique opportunity to discover chess, meet passionate players, and celebrate Women’s Day in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

The idyllic setting of the Annonciade Museum, a symbol of art and culture in Saint-Tropez, adds elegance and charm to this occasion. Beyond highlighting the remarkable talent of young female chess players, the event serves as a platform for bringing together residents and visitors for a meaningful moment of sharing and exchange.

Meet the Prochaieva Sisters

The event proudly welcomes Alina, Tina, Yelyzaveta, and Olha Prochaieva—quadruplet sisters from Kyiv, Ukraine, who have demonstrated exceptional chess talent.

Now residing in Oviedo, Spain, with their family as war refugees, they have received strong support from the Gijón64 chess club, which has provided them with opportunities to further develop their chess careers. On January 11-12, 2025, they participated in the European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, showcasing their remarkable skills on an international stage.

Program

10:30 AM: Welcome of participants and distribution of gifts to all players taking part in the simultaneous chess exhibition.
12:00 PM: Closing of the event.

The simultaneous exhibition is exclusively open to female chess players under 16 years old, with a maximum rating of 1600 ELO. A minimum of 24 and a maximum of 32 participants will be accepted. Prior registration is required, via email: echecssainttropez@gmail.com.

All participating players will receive a participation gift, a commemorative diploma, a medal, and flowers in recognition of their contribution to this inspiring event.

Location: Musée de l’Annonciade, 2 Place Georges Grammont.
(In case of bad weather, the event will be relocated to Salle Louis Blanc, 7 Boulevard Louis Blanc. Any venue changes will be communicated in real-time to registered participants.)

About the Chess Club of Saint-Tropez

The Club d’Échecs de Saint-Tropez “Les Fous de la Vieille Tour” is committed to promoting women’s chess in the Var region. Last year, on March 8-9, 2024, the club hosted members of the French women’s national team, who had won silver medals in the 2023 World and European Rapid Chess Championships. This initiative, led by seven-time French champion Sophie Milliet, was a testament to the club’s dedication to advancing women’s participation and success in chess.
