We are pleased to launch the Women in Chess Representation, Participation and Development Survey – a global initiative designed to better understand the experiences, participation, opportunities, and challenges of women in chess.
Women contribute to the chess community in many different ways – not only as players, but also as coaches, arbiters, trainers, organizers, administrators, parents, volunteers, educators, journalists, content creators, streamers, researchers, and advocates. Through this survey, we aim to gather valuable insights from women across all levels of involvement, from beginners to experienced professionals.
The information collected will help us identify key trends, understand barriers to participation and leadership, celebrate successful initiatives, and inform future programs, policies, and recommendations that support the growth and development of women’s chess worldwide.
Whether you have been involved in chess for decades or have only recently joined the community, your voice matters. By sharing your experiences, you will contribute to a broader understanding of women’s participation in chess and help shape initiatives that create a more inclusive and supportive environment for future generations.
The survey is open to women and girls involved in chess in any capacity. Participation is voluntary, and responses will be treated confidentially in accordance with the survey’s privacy guidelines. The deadline for submission is August 28th 2026.
We encourage federations, clubs, organizations, and members of the global chess community to share this survey widely to ensure that women from diverse backgrounds, regions, and experiences are represented.
