The FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess is pleased to support the 2nd Women’s Chess Summer Program in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, organized in cooperation with Ciudad de Bayamón and local partners.
The program will take place from June 9–25, 2026, at the Lomas Verdes Community Center in Bayamón, with sessions held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Designed to provide girls and women with a welcoming and encouraging space to learn and enjoy chess, the program will offer two training levels:
- Beginner – 5:00 PM
- Intermediate – 6:00 PM
Participation is completely free of charge.
The sessions will be led by Puerto Rican player and instructor Keyshla M. Vega Jiménez, a member of the Puerto Rico Women’s Olympic Team. Having strong female players involved as instructors and mentors is an important part of growing women’s chess. Visible role models help inspire new generations of girls to participate, build confidence, and see long-term opportunities within the game.
Programs like this not only teach chess skills, but also help strengthen community connections and promote a positive and inclusive image of chess for women and girls. Creating safe and supportive learning environments remains an important step in encouraging greater participation and retention in the chess world.
The initiative is sponsored by the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess and Ciudad de Bayamón.
For additional information, participants may contact the organizers at (787) 368-0131 or register through the QR code provided by the organizers.
Our big thanks to the Organisers for organising free chess courses, which help promote the game and engage more people in the chess community!
