Girls’ Chess Day at Waipuna Conference Centre, New Zealand set for March 26

New Zealand Chess Federation and FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess are pleased to announce a series of events aimed to promote girls’ chess, in New Zealand, on March 26-27. It will feature WIM Anastasia Sorokina, Chair of FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess and WGM Dana Reizniece-Ozola, Deputy Chair of FIDE Management Board, as well as the officials of the NZ Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Education.

As part of this, Paul Spiller, vice-president of New Zealand Chess Federation, will be organising the Girls’ Chess Day at Waipuna Conference Centre on Sunday, March 26. This will involve an introductory lecture about FIDE and the Commission for Women’s Chess, a one-hour chess coaching lecture, a simul by Anastasia Sorokina and Dana Reizniece-Ozola, and the Girls’ Blitz tournament.
