Jennifer Shahade 

a two-time U.S. Women’s Chess Champion, author, speaker and poker pro 

​ The first female to win the US Junior Open, Jennifer is passionate about empowerment and creative work around the games she loves most, chess and poker. Shahade is the author of the books «Chess Bitch», «Play Like a Girl», and «Chess Queens», and co-author of «Marcel Duchamp: The Art of Chess». Her next book, «Thinking Sideways», delves into the ways that iconic games like chess and poker can make the world a better place, while also allowing us to become the first versions of ourselves. Her work with US Chess Women aims to make chess more inclusive. She is the Women’s Program Director at US Chess, MindSports Ambassador for Poker Stars and a board member of the World Chess Hall of Fame in Saint Louis. She directs the US Chess Women Program at US Chess, which brings chess programming to thousands of girls all over the country. ​ Jennifer hosts an award-winning podcast «Ladies Knight», where she interviews female chess champions and leaders. Her writing has appeared in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
